30.03.2004.We are seeking for volunteers

 

Caritas European part of Russia is just a small group of colleagues and volunteers. But there are many ideas for projects but also a need for help. That is why we always seeking for volunteers to accompany our projects, that can engage themselves in such a work for at least half a year.

At the moment a project for homeless is running on, and volunteers are working with big efforts. For this project new faces are always welcome to develop our work.

Further Caritas connected to an organization, that's especially dealing with problems of families with mestizo-children . In these families only one parent is living with the children, usually the mother. The reality usually looks like these mothers can not fulfill the demand of education to their children; they have to fight with unemployment and the being different of their children. But at the moment we are simply not enough people to help them.

 

Also we want to support the work of a group dealing with refugees especially from Chechnya . The refugee-children receive school supporting lectures; too from German volunteers. But this is still not sufficient.

 

Further on Caritas is much occupied in the work with parishes outside and inside Moscow . Well there are quite a lot of them and as we know the work directly at the client is the most effective, we are often missing the time to help everybody equally. Time after time every parish shall be visited, to show the parish members that they are also supported from outside.

 

Our wish is also to develop some new things. For example, we have a library in the Caritas office, but unfortunaly it is not up to date. It is necessary to get new books, to create a catalogue and make the library its self popular.

 

We are also thinking about creating a group that is dealing with Russian and German customs and traditions . We imagine meetings where we are searching, collecting and celebrating traditions in order to bring them alive. E.g. at the moment Easter eggs could be designed and the history of the symbol of life ‘Easter egg' could be discovered. Further on parallels in the traditions of Russia and Germany can be discovered and, if there is the wish, also across these borders.
